Scaffolding for struggling Students: Reading and Writing with blogs
Digital Literacy’s: Laptops and Inspired Writing
Both of these articles are encouraging blogs in the classroom. Both articles noticed an increase in quality of writing and participation. Most students who are unsuccessful in the classroom find blogging a comfortable way to communicate. They feel safe knowing that others won’t ridicule or judge their answer. There feeling are guarded while in a traditional setting but students speak freely when blogging.
Although there are many advantages to blogging in the classroom; there are also disadvantages. Many students abuse the privilege of a computer by gaming, texting, and bullying. These concerns are expected when brining a new technology and method into the classroom. Restrictions and guards need to be put in place to protect others from harmful responses and abuse. This responsibility falls on the educator.
I believe Technology is a productive tool in the classroom and more often than not the outcome is prosperous. Educators need to take the initiative to put restrictions in place for a successful environment.
That’s how I see’s it.
Thanks for reading.
